Remember when Meister joined the band, we started fucking with him and doing Meisterisms?  We took his name and used it to replace words like for instance - Meister of Puppets, Meister Mouse, My Cousin Meister, and that sort of thing.  It's endless fun really - try it sometime!  Go with themes - like war movies.  Saving Private Meister, Apocalypse Meister, or We Were Meisters.  It's a pisser.

So - now I thought we should bring Dan into the fun.  They both joined the band at the same time, and Dan is the youngest band member by a year or so of Meister.  So he needs to be fucked with to an extent.  So I thought using the name Dan to replace words that rhyme with Dan or sound similar would be fun.  So here's a few to get your brain going - System of a Dan (pictured right), Dan Halen, Pearl Dan, Dannibal Corpse, and Raisin Dan.  If you come up with one where you use Dan's name twice, it's a bonus point situation.  Something like Danchurian Dandidate (for Manchurian Candidate - book/movie).

Low Twelve at Paulie's in Bloomington Illinois - August 2008

I've been telling you about this show - so don't miss it!  It's this coming Saturday night at Show Me's in Bloomington Illinois.  There are going to be some killer bands playing along with us and it's an 18 and older show - so get your ass in the pit!

We'll be playing a mix of older tunes and lots of new stuff - including ones no one has ever heard before - "A Hero's Last Stand" and "Hand of the Dying".  So don't miss that shit!  We'll be going on around 11pm or so, but make sure you come out early and support ALL the bands playing.  See you in the pit.

Low Twelve has been working very hard on getting things moving on the "Splatter Pattern" recording.  We're very close to having all the click tracks done for the drums - Wes is doing that and he's doing an amazing job.  We're checking the tempos at practice, to be sure they're right.  Wes plays the click track over his speakers, and we jam along at half volumes to be sure they're right.  So far things are going great and the songs have never sounded tighter than this.  I'm pumped to see how much of a difference the click tracks will make.  As I write this, Meister was planning to go over to Wes' place today to work on laying down some rough guitar tracks to the click tracks, so when Wed does his tracking - he can hear some guitar.  I will also do some rough vocals for him for frame of reference.  I know everyone is anxious to hear the new stuff, but trust us here - this added work of the click tracks is going to make all the difference.

If you doubt it - listen to the new Cannibal Corpse CD.  With the CD comes a DVD that shows how they made it.  Their drummer, who's been playing for over 20 years said this is the first CD he used a click track for and it made a huge difference.  Many bands actually use one live - which is tough to do when you're used to playing small clubs/bars with very little in the way of extras.

We will finish up the last two songs right after this coming show on Saturday, so we can get those click tracks done and then record all the drums over one weekend.  After that, Wes gives me the drums and we all begin working on laying guitars, bass, and vocals down.  In the meantime, Wes mixes the drums, makes them sound as good as he can and then we replace the scratch drums with the real ones and viola - one ass kicking end product!

I'll tell you what - many of the fans were really digging Psycroptic.  They are from the island of Tasmania, and they were fucking wicked.  Wes and I really dug them and we hung out with the singer at their merch table after the show.  I was supposed to interview them and Samael - but the tour manager didn't get the word and things didn't work out.  But, I had a photo pass and got to get right up against the stage - so for Carcass I was front and center and loving every minute.  They played all of the great ones - minus "Blind Bleeding the Blind" which is Wes' favorite.  They did old stuff and their later Heartwork and Swan Song material too.  We dug the hell out of the projector and the great visual going on behind the drummer while they tore it the fuck up!  It was a fantastic time.

The Black Dahlia Murder was good too - and the crowd really liked Samael and Suicide Silence as well.  The second stage was kick ass with some good bands - Heavycore brothers Whorrid played a set on that stage and I got to catch most of it.  Hell yeah!

We got to see lots of people from the Chicago area, including Ron and Lori from Rotting Corpse Records, Scott Davidson, and many others.  It was a great time and many thanks to the Low Twelve fans who were kind and had good things to say about the band.  It was fun to meet some of you!
