So what in my brutal CD player this week? |
|
|
| 1. Cannibal Corpse - Evisceration Plague (fucking incredible NEW death metal) | |||
| 2. Kreator - Hordes of Chaos (also great new metal) | |||
| 3. Carcass - Heartwork (can't wait to see them next month - love this CD) | |||
So good to see you back in brutality once again my friends . . . it's been a very hectic week here in the Low Twelve Command Center with all the "Splatter Pattern" recording going on. It started out a bit on the hairy side when it came to computer issues that arose - but we persevered and Meister tore it up brutally. Much more on that later, with some pics of the sessions and all the drama that went down. It confirms a concept that Meister himself brought up - he's cursed when it comes to electronic equipment. But - I was able to remove the curse and we got some great stuff!
In addition to all that, we continue writing the last couple of songs for the "Splatter Pattern" CD and I'll have all the updates on how things are going so far. Plus - we've got a killer fan contest to put out this week where you can win a signed copy (only 8 printed) of the "Splatter Pattern" production notes/lyrics packets each person involved with the CD have. So that will be a cool Low Twelve keepsake - since few others would have a copy of it. So keep your eyes open for that my brutal friends! Wes and Michelle went to see Mudvayne this past week in Peoria and I'm sure very few of you know that Wes (and Les) used to play in a band with Mudvayne bassist Ryan Martinie. He actually lived with Tim for a while before moving from Bloomington to join Mudvayne. I've got a cool backstage pic of Wes and Ryan later on in the report. All that plus we begin a countdown to the 500th Brutality Report as this one marks number 488 that means only 12 to go. Nice!
Of course we also have an array of hot chicks in the Brutality Report XXX for those of you who like to check that out, plus a NASTY Skank of the Week for those extra nasty bastards out there reading these reports (I know you're out there - last week the Skank of the Week had 6,909 views!) - so continue on with vigor my brutal friends. Of course those of you out there who read these reports and whine, cry and lament about how we make fun of your gay asses. Well - it's a fact that your shit is lame and weak . . . while real metal thrashes on. I'll quote myself this week - to all the poser pukes out there, from the lyrics of the Low Twelve song "Chopping Block":
"Metal soaked with evil has arrived and we will rule again!"
Now get on with it.
| CLOSING IN ON THE 500TH |
|
| Sometimes it's hard to put
my brain around the thought of writing the 500th Brutality Report.
I'll tell you - it's been a long, tough ride since I've been doing the
reports. But - as I've told you all before, the Brutality Report
is as much therapeutic to me, as it is to some of you.
It's often that I run into a fan at a show, and they tell me how much they enjoyed reading the reports. One guy told me he waits until Monday after work to read it - so his Monday doesn't suck. That's fucking cool! I appreciate that feedback, because there are times I wonder why I do this each and every week. But, I do know it gets the word out in a big way and I'm a sucker for traditions. Low Twelve traditions are firm and everlasting . . . like a monstrous erect penis or a chick's nipple with an ice cube on it. You get my meaning? Since there are weeks where I don't put out a Brutality Report - like in cases when we're out of state doing a show for the weekend, or other things like that. But I would expect the 500th Brutality Report to be out sometime around May 10th (Mother's Day - how nice would that be?) or May 17th. So I'll keep you posted as we count it down . . . that's a lot of writing. If I published it in a book - how many pages would we be talking about? Maybe it would have to be done in multiple volumes? Wow - that would be impressive! Think about doing something each week for 500 weeks straight? It's crazy when you actually think about that. 500 weeks is approximately 9 1/2 years. Which adds up - because Is started the Brutality Report about a year or so into the founding of Low Twelve and have been at it ever since. Do you want to be included in the 500th Report? Well - if you want to send me a picture of reading the Brutality Report, I'll send every 10th person a free copy of the "Unfit For Human Occupancy" Low Twelve CD. Send it to me at pete@lowtwelve.com Or - would you like to make a comment about the Brutality Report? I'm planning on using some of those in the 500th somewhere. Send them to me at pete@lowtwelve.com and I'll send a free copy of the "Unfit For Human Occupancy" Low Twelve CD to every 10th person while supplies last! |
| WES AT THE MUDVAYNE SHOW |
|
|
Last week Mudvayne came to Peoria - to play a show in their hometown. It's funny because Low Twelve has a few "ties" to Mudvayne that few people know about. We always chose to keep that sort of thing to ourselves, because SO MANY people in the area try to capitalize on knowing one member of the band or another - and doing the whole name dropping thing. I've seen bands put shit like that in their bio and it's ridiculous. We joke around sometimes, saying shit like - "did you know my Dad knows a guy who used to work with a lady who cut the drummer from Mudvayne's hair when he was a baby?" I mean give me a fucking break! Well - here's the deal. When I started to look for musicians to play with me in Low Twelve, I put up flyers, saying I was a bass player who was looking for guys to start a band. Well - someone from Mudvayne called me (I have no idea who this many years later) and asked me about playing with them. I knew who they were, but had never seen them play - and at the time they were just "another local band". I told them I wanted to write my own music and sing and was not interested. The guy was a little pissed off and so that was that. I went on to form Low Twelve. Of course they got Ryan (who blows my ass away for sure) and went on to stardom. Mudvayne is not my style of metal - but of course there are thousands upon thousands who disagree with me on that one! Ryan did come to Tim's funeral and was a pall bearer with me. He seemed like a nice enough guy and was cool to hop on a plane and make it for Tim's service. As I mentioned earlier, he lived with Tim for a while before he joined Mudvayne. Wes used to work with Ryan at a local Dairy Queen and played with him (and Les) in the band Broken Altar. They did all instrumental stuff since they didn't have a singer, and it's some wicked shit really. I converted a practice tape of them to CD for Wes last year and I listen to it all. It's really good metal for sure! So Wes and Michelle hooked up with Ryan backstage and talked old times for a bit. Wes said the show was good and it was cool to see Ryan again. So there you have it - the true story about our "ties" with Mudvayne. |

| MEISTER TEARING SHIT UP! |
|
| Meister showed up promptly
at 8am and we had some pancakes to get prepared for guitar tracking.
I made up a nice batch and we ate at my kitchen table to discuss how
things were going down. This would be my first stab at recording
guitars. So we carried his gear up my stairs (steep enough for a
fucking goat) and set things up in the closet that I converted into a
vocal/amplifier booth. It worked great! I had acoustic
panels all around his cabinets and set the microphones up.
We took a lot of time, a good couple hours just playing around with different mic set ups and changing the mics out too. But we finally arrived at the best sound was using two Shure SM 57's. One on each cabinet, because Meister's set up gives him more bass out of the lower cabinet and more highs from the top one. So we wanted to capture both for his true sound. He wanted something like an old school death metal sound - like some old Morbid Angel or Obituary. What he got was fucking brutal - and we love the way it turned out. The problem we had was with the software I was using to record him with - Sony Vegas 7.0. We've used Sony Vegas for years and love it. What I didn't realize (but did about 14 hours later) was that my new hard drive and sound card was not working with Vegas. Believe me - I tried everything to include uninstalling and re-installing Vegas, changing cords, mics, and beating my bald head against a wall. It was insane and of course Meister felt helpless - because here's the guy running the show and he's confused as all Hell! Thankfully, I finally got it right and we tore it the fuck UP on Friday. Meister played really well and while we had to get used to using headphones and that stuff - he did a great job and got four songs done. He's going to come back and do four more here in the next couple weeks, as soon as we can get a couple more from Wes with rough drum mixes we can work with. |
Now that Meister is done with his group of four, now Dan will come in this Wednesday, Thursday and Friday nights to record his parts. I'm confident he'll do fine and tear shit up himself. I'm anxious to hear what it sounds like with both of them! Right now Meister's crunching rhythm's are downright mean and nasty. I'm planning on putting my bass tracks down this week or coming weekend. I didn't get a chance with all the computer drama I was dealing with. We did play a little with bass on Thursday and it was sounding really good with very little effort. So I plan to spend time trying some things and working on getting the best possible tone I can.
Check out some pics I took while we recorded . . . Dan stopped by on Friday for a few hours to show support for his Low Twelve brother:

I also did some rough vocals on Tuesday night here to test out Big Daddy and to give the guitar players some reference points when recording. We'll keep you posted on how things go and I'll post more pics of the process and when Dan is over here shredding those frets!

| DON'T FORGET ABOUT XXX! |
|
| Last year we started taking
some of the more "extreme" photos off the Brutality Report so that
others could enjoy following Low Twelve and Heavycore without having to
see that sort of stuff. So we starting doing the Brutality Report
XXX - for you more hardcore bastards (or bitches) out there. As you know, we've got lots of hot chicks on the Brutality Report XXX page. But, that's only for adults, so if that's not your thing, or you're not legal to check that sort of thing out, then don't go there. You must be 18 or older to see that sort of thing - so you've been warned. But if you are legal to see that stuff and wish to - then you can see hot chicks like Emma (pictured right) and many more, doing some nasty things. So why not check out lots of free picture and movie galleries where you can see sexy teens getting naked and performing acts that only adults can see. We do a feature each week of one of the hottest young girls on the web - offering several galleries for you to check out. Some have movies on them too, so you can see much more than still shots. We also post several more galleries - featuring girls that do nasty things. We also have an archive of past galleries, so you could wind up with a disability claim from all the jerking you're about to do! So be careful and don't hurt yourselves . . . we need you in the trenches - being brutal as ever for the underground metal movement. So that gives you an idea of what's in store . . . lots of hot teen chicks doing nasty things. Need I say more? Just one last time - remember you must be 18 or older to see such things . . . so don't go there unless you're legal. Click on the link below if you want to check out Brutality Report XXX and don't come whining to us if your cock gets sore from all the jerking - or if you're a female and that nub gets worn down. Enjoy the perversion! Happy jerkin'! |
