So good to see you back in brutality once again my friends . . . what a brutal year 2008 was! It was definitely a milestone as it marked 10 years of Low Twelve, but also was the year that Les Aldridge decided to step down and we saw two new guitar players enter the fray. All the best of 2008 will be recounted in this Brutality Report - the first one of 2009!
I had one hell of a nasty computer virus that almost threatened to take out the Low Twelve Command Center - it must have been some poser infiltration. They ALMOST succeeded in destroying my computer, but of course failed miserably because as you can see - I'm still throwing down and they're still wishing they were real metal freaks. We all know they're a bunch of fags anyway - so we laugh as their women rub their nub and think about Low Twelve. All that plus what's going on with the recording of "Splatter Pattern" - the upcoming brutal full length CD coming from Low Twelve this year. Plus we announce the winner of the nasty Skank Off 2008 . . . and of course show off some hot chicks in the Brutality Report XXX page. So what are you waiting for you bastards?
The weak and frail who feel compelled to read these reports, must be on the verge of suicide right now. They thought me being offline and unable to write the last couple Brutality Reports, meant that I was hanging it up and going to let them back on the playground. Well - fuck all that. I'm raring and ready to destroy in 2009 . . . so read on your quivering little pussies while us real metal freaks in the crowd read on with relish and ever-lasting nastiness on our minds in 2009.
Now get on with it.
| VIRUS CRIPPLES COMMAND CENTER |
violated by posergeists? |
| It was the weekend before
Christmas when I first noticed problems with my computer. It was
running like shit, and real slow and I was running as many virus scans
and spyware scans as I could. On Sunday December 21st I decided to
not do the Brutality Report because of all the problems with it, and
then later that night I was not able to get on the internet, things were
crashing and it was bad. I ran more virus scans and found a Trojan
Horse virus, among other things I couldn't even begin to tell you what
they meant. So - I took the computer in and hoped like hell they
would be able to save it.
I have an external hard drive I bought off Wes a couple years ago and I do back up often, but like most people - not nearly enough and so I was worried things were going to take a shit. Luckily, I found a place in Bloomington Illinois that deals with this sort of thing and he was able to back my entire system up, and because the virus ate up my hard drive to the point it couldn't be used again - replace it with a new 500 gig bastard! He was awesome and while it did take a week for me to get the computer back - having Christmas fall right in that week was not working to my advantage. I would highly recommend this guy - he didn't ask me to plug him but in thanks for what he did to help me out - please contact this place if you have having any computer problems, want an upgrade, or whatever. He also works on game systems - so give him a call if you need someone! Andy Thoman - Andy's BCB
(Better Computer Business) Andy is a super nice dude, who is all about customer service. So tell him I sent you and I'm sure he'll understand why there is so much fucking porn on your computer! He can also work on Macs if that's your thing . . . his shop is off Airport Road in Bloomington on Gill Street. So thanks to Andy - I am back and ready to destroy. My apologies for not doing the last couple Brutality Reports, but under the circumstances, it was out of my control. To add to the shitiness of the situation, I lost power the weekend before and the weekend after Christmas. The last one went from Sat at 1pm to Sunday at 8pm. Talk about being pissed - no computer, no power, no internet - nothing. Luckily, I was reading a great book (We Are Soldiers Still - Hal Moore) so it did pass the time . . . by flashlight at times. |
| WHAT A KILLER 2008 |
|
|
Last year (it still sounds funny saying that doesn't it?) we had a very turbulent, but productive time. Our 10-year anniversary was this past summer, and with Les quitting the band in March, and adding two new guitar players to replace him, we really were not sure of what the year of 2008 would bring. What it did bring was a reminder that this band has defied adversity so many times and continues to stomp ass. Remember my bout with cancer in 2001, when I didn't know if I was going to live through that summer only to find out on 9/11/01 that I was in remission? Remember Tim leaving the band in October 2001 and then his untimely death in February 2002? It rocked the very foundation that is Low Twelve - but we forged the fuck on. So Les quitting was a big deal, and his leaving the band was devastating at the time, we picked ourselves off our boot straps and found two new axe slingers to take his place in Dan and Meister. Anyone who has seen the band since adding these two new fuckers, knows we stomp ass still. Sure things sound different - how could it not? But we've moved into another phase of Low Twelve - each phase more brutal than the last. Can you handle Low Twelve in 2009? Before we move into the future . . . let's look back on what a killer year 2008 was for Low Twelve! |

| SPLATTER PATTERN
UPDATES We've been busting ass the last couple months working on new songs and getting ready to hit the studio this winter. Well - we're working on a weekend this month to record the drums for the first group of four songs we're recording. Wes suggested it, and it was a great idea, to do the songs in three four-song groups. We picked the first four songs to record: Defiance to the End We are going to go back to the V-12 Concussion Chamber over at Les' place to record the drums. Les always told us we'd be welcome back there, so we figured this would be much easier than moving all the drums to engineer Nathan Kurtz in rural Fairfield Illinois. Nathan suggested him coming here - so we thought that made a lot of sense! We've been drilling these songs hard and also have finished writing the newest song "A Hero's Last Stand". This is the one Dan and I collaborated on, and it's turned out fucking KILLER. This is the song about hero Rick Rescorla. His wife runs the memorial website and she has put me in touch with one of Rick's long time friends, Fred McBee. Fred contacted me by email, after I asked if we could use some audio of Rick for the song. Fred not only had some audio, but he's got a recording of Rick singing in Vietnam in 1966 with some other Army officers, while artillery shells are going off in the distance! This is audio never before used, and they've given us permission to use it for our tribute song to Rick. I am really excited about it, as are the rest of the guys. In addition, Wes met a guy who was a sniper for the US Marine Corps in Iraq, and we are working on getting him to come into the studio to speak about some of his experiences, so we can use it for the song "Bodies in My Pocket" - which was written about an anonymous Marine sniper I saw on the History channel. That is cool as hell and should really add some serious realism to the song! Wes will be doing his own drum editing, like he did for "This Side Toward Enemy" but with much more skill and preparedness. In addition, he's got the new drums now - so it's going to be killer when we record him now - even more than before. Fuck yeah. I'll be taking still pics and shooting video of the recording process, and will show you all how things are going. Meister and Dan are going to record their guitars here at my studio, since I have plenty of room now and noise is NOT an issue here. Plus - I will be doing my bass and vocals that way anyway - so things will be set up. Meister and Dan will also be doing vocals on the CD - so this is going to be one hell of an orchestrated effort to get it all done. But we will and it will stomp complete ass! Check out some pics I took yesterday at practice:
