So good to see you back in brutality once again my friends . . . I hope you fuckers all gorged yourselves on turkey and shit for Thanksgiving.  I know I did - and it was kick ass.  I do apologize for the week off of the Brutality Report, but as you'll soon read, we've been busy as hell with songwriting for the next Low Twelve CD among other things wicked!

You'll get to see pics from the last show of 2008 - which was ironically a Low Twelve first actually!  It was in a gay bar!  It was funny as hell at first, when I found out from Wes' girlfriend . . . who told me there was something "strange" about the place.  Much more on the show later in the report, but I'm sure you'll all get a big kick out of it!  In addition, I've got the cover for the new Heavycore DVD "United in Metal" which looks wicked as hell, a new Skank Off 2008 contest for you sick fucks out there who love it NASTY with a capital N.  It's guaranteed to make the faint at heart blow chunks . . . so make sure you check it out!  All that plus the usual parade of sweet teen pussy that we celebrate in the Brutality Report XXX and oh so much more!

So what the fuck are you waiting for?  Of course us real metal freaks (and freakettes) love to dive into a buffet of brutality each week.  But we need to remember that for every one of you, there are 2-3 poser fags out there who hate the brutalness . . . and wish things could go back to ten years ago when Low Twelve was not doing live shows yet and their world was safe.  But then on February 6, 1999 all that changed and Low Twelve began tearing up stages and crowds by the dozen and now ten years later, and more than 250 shows later - they're bagging groceries while their women are at home finger banging themselves and wishing so badly that they had one of the guys in Low Twelve dry fucking their assholes!

LAST SHOW OF THE YEAR WAS BRUTAL

We had a really good time at our last show of 2008 at the Clark Street Bar in Champaign Illinois.  As I mentioned earlier, we found out after we got there that it was a lesbian bar.  There were also gay men there too - but once the music started, they all went downstairs.  The bar is divided into several parts, and the band room with the stage is separated by a doorway from the bar.  But, it was a strange mix of metal freaks and gay people.  Personally, it didn't bother me at all - as long as they do their thing and we can do ours . . . I'm cool with it.  We also didn't have to watch dudes kissing or anything - which would have grossed me out.  But it was cool, and everyone was ok with it.  So why the fuck not?

First up was Hatechamber, and they put on a really good show.  They're a local Champaign band and have a good following - so it was good to see such a decent crowd out to a new place for metal.  After them, Ocularis got up and tore shit up like they always do.  They also brought several Bloomington metal heads over for the cause, so it was killer to see some familiar faces again.  Blessed with Pain really surprised me - because they now have a new lineup with everyone changed other than guitarist Jamie Basham.  But they were wicked as fuck with two of the guys from Alchymist in the band - the drummer I wasn't familiar with - but they were very good.  It's a different band than the old Blessed with Pain I remember with Juan and the boys.  But they are well worth checking out!

We ripped the place up in brutal fashion of course.  We played about 40 minutes before we had to quit because of the bar closing at 2am.  But it was brutal up to the final bell.  Check out some pics from Crazy Mike:

WOW is all I can say to that

Big thanks to all the fans who supported us this year and the many great bands we played with.  We had a blast playing out and will be booking shows for sometime around March or April once we've got the new CD recorded and can then focus on the live shows.  We'll keep you all posted on what's up with that.

NEW SONGWRITING APPROACH WORKS WONDERS!

Since Low Twelve began in 1998, I had a similar formula for writing new songs that has worked well for us.  I come up with the idea for what to write the song about, then I write a few parts on bass to go along with the lyrics, and bring it to practice.  Then the rest of the band puts their own flair to the songs, and we mold it into a new Low Twelve song as a unit.  That's why I've always credited the music to "Low Twelve" - and not just me.  Because it's always been a band effort to shape the songs.  Wes has come up with many drum beats that have turned into pivotal parts of the songs, as well as Les in the past.  Dan and Meister have been putting their own minor touches on the new songs we had already written for the new CD prior to them joining in March.

This time around I wanted to try something else.  We have three more songs to write, and so I thought it would be cool to have Dan and Meister come over to my place, on separate trips . . . to see what they can come up with.  So we did that yesterday here in the Command Center. Dan came by first, and we worked on a new song called "A Hero's Last Stand" - which turned out awesome!  We recorded the guitar and bass parts as we went, so we have something to work with and show the others.  After Dan left, Meister came by and we worked on the title track for the new CD "Splatter Pattern" which is a real thrasher - in the spirit of the song "Brutal World" and it's also fucking awesome!  We also recorded the guitar and bass parts for the song and so now both are on my plate to come up with the lyrics and help shape the songs so we can present them to the band.  I'm excited about this new approach!  Wes and I will be doing the same thing at his place for the final song - which will be an instrumental called "Fire For Effect".  So the new CD will be packed full with 11 songs!  We might decide to throw an extra track on the CD - maybe one of the older songs redone with Dan and Meister!  Who knows?
