So what in my brutal CD player this week? |
|
|
| 1. Carcass - Heartwork (completely killer death metal from the UK) | |||
| 2. Exodus - Shovel Headed Kill Machine (wicked thrash from California) | |||
| 3. Mercyful Fate - Melissa (incredible old school stuff - light the black candles) | |||
So good to see you back in brutality once again my friends . . . as I dish out more brutality than most can endure each and every week. I'm glad you made it back for another chapter in the ongoing war on posers - metal heads must unite and stomp out their lame asses!
In this week's report I've got updates on new Low Twelve songs and how things are looking as we continue to put down some of the strongest stuff we've ever done! We're so excited to show off the new stuff at our coming 2008 dates - so mark them down on your calendars. In addition to the good news, former drummer Steve Chestney loses a family member this past week and we went to the visitation to show support for Steve and the Chestney family. We've also got some old songs being dusted off and added to the Low Twelve set lists for this next year and we're sure that some of you will really be into the ones we chose. It gets tough as you have nearly 50 songs to choose from . . . to have to whittle the list down to only 12 or so to play a typical 45-minute set. But we have done just that and I'll be giving you some hints as to what you might hear at a show soon. All that plus all the tits and ass a fucker can stand with some hot galleries and a NASTY skank of the week for you to sink your teeth into!
So metal heads of the planet, prepare to dig into a buffet of brutality. You pussies out there who can't hang should just pull the plug from the wall and sell your computer. It has to be frustrating to read about the exploits of a real metal band while you think you're cool playing Guitar Hero!
Now get on with it.
| FORMER LOW TWELVE DRUMMER FACES LOSS |
|
| Some of you old school
Twelve Heads may remember our first drummer, Steve Chestney, who played
with us from July 1998 to November 1999. Steve was (and still is)
a good friend of ours and it was sad to hear this week that his mom,
Sharon Chestney died at the age of 65 at a hospital in Bloomington
Illinois. Les and I went to the visitation this past Thursday. Wes couldn't make it because he was out of state for work. But Les and I knew Steve, and together with my wife and friend Jon Rankin, we showed support from the Low Twelve camp. Despite the difficult circumstances, it was good to see Steve again. In addition, it was good to see his wife Lisa and their boys Shane and Spencer who got so damn big since the last time I had seen them. If you'd like to read the obituary - check it out here. We hope Steve and his family bounces back from this sudden loss and has a good rest of the year! Steve, Les and I discussed doing a show this summer to mark 10 years of Low Twelve and to have Steve jump up and maybe play a song or two on drums. I'm sure Wes would dig it - and so we'll keep you posted on that one. |
| OLDIES BUT BRUTAL
SHOW UP ON NEW SET LISTS We like to change things up in Low Twelve when it comes to what songs we're playing at our live shows. It's tough for us to not play all the new stuff - since that's what we like to play the most. But we do realize that our fans like to hear the old stuff - so it's a blend between the two that makes for the best set lists. Last week we sat down to discuss this very subject and came up with a few good twists for the 2008 set list. When you have nearly 50 originals to choose from, it makes narrowing the song list to only a dozen or so. Sometimes, we do get to do a local show where we can play two full sets. Then we can really bust out some vintage Low Twelve and get the locals a chance to hear songs they haven't seen us do live in ages. I'm not going to tell you what is on each set list (we came up with two) but I will give you some clues . . . and we'll see if any of you fuckers can guess. So to make it interesting we'll make it a contest. Anyone who can answer all the questions right and be the first one to email them to us at contact@lowtwelve.com will score a free copy of our official bootleg DVD - "Live at Eastside". Good luck! You have to guess all three songs below to get the prize! 1. One of our oldest songs was written about the controversial Dr. Kevorkian . . . which one was it? 2. A song on our last CD "This Side Toward Enemy" that means the same as "not feeling well". 3. The only instrumental on our "Unfit For Human Occupancy" CD. Good luck . . . may the most brutal win! |

So you want to try something new in the
bedroom? Check out the STINKY PINKY. This one might piss her
off, but if you do it in front of a tall mirror, you just might get one
hell of a laugh! When you're going at it from the back and you insert a pinky finger in along side your member, reach around front, and plunge it so far into her nostril that it tilts her head back. Wow, if you can pull this one off - you need to send us a pic at contact@lowtwelve.com - especially if you get her really pissed off. Just be careful out there! |

| THOSE HOT SLUTS NEXT DOOR |
|
| So you fuckers love to see
chicks getting naked? Well, you've cum to the right place.
In this column each week we feature a different hot chick. She's hot as
hell and it's no wonder her webmaster sends her galleries to us nearly
every week! While you're checking out these galleries, feel free to take the site visits. They're usually free and you can see more than just a few pics. Some of them feature videos and more. If you join up as a member, you get to see all the galleries and some of them include some seriously wicked stuff! Often times you can chat with the girls and mail in stuff for them to wear for future photo shoots. How about that? Check out these galleries we're featuring this week and don't worry about it. I won't tell on you. Promise! Just don't blame us if you get in trouble at home or school . . . or like one poor Twelve Head - he got fired from work for looking at porn. Use some fucking common sense . . . grab that box of tissues and get to spankin! http://www.badgirlpotd.com/galleries/collegepantys/mgp/02/hosted.html?nats=MjM3OToxOjQ0|Gogo http://www.badgirlpotd.com/galleries/collegepantys/mgp/05/hosted.html?nats=MjM3OToxOjQ0|Honeys http://galleries.danimiles.com/movies/010208dbo07/hosted.html?nats=MTUwMzU6Mzo1Mw http://galleries1.gagonmycock.com/galleries/010208tgd05/hosted.html?nats=MTUwMzU6Mzox |
| RESEARCHING, REHEARSING, AND MORE RESEARCHING |
|
| I've been telling you
fuckers about how hard we've been working on getting the new stuff
written so we can record these last five songs . . . and wrap up the new
CD. Well - things are going well. This week hit a little
snag on practice, as Les threw his back out and caused us to cut
practice short on Tuesday night. He's doing much better and we're
actually going to practice today at 1pm to make up for not being able to
practice on Thursday due to Wes having to go to Kentucky for his day
job, and the aforementioned visitation for Steve Chestney's mom.
But in a commitment to continue the progress on these new songs - we're
making it up today and will probably have to do the same this next week
as our personal schedules intertwine and will cause us to practice next
Sunday as well.
We're about one or two practices away from having "Bodies in my Pocket" down and ready to add to the finished list. The next one I've got ready to show the guys is "Scourge" and it's about the scourge of communism and how many millions of people it has destroyed over the years. I have been doing some internet research for the topic, as well as made a rare trip to my local public library! |
Speaking of going to the library - I was looking for the books I looked up on the computer catalogue when someone said my name. I looked up and didn't recognize the young guy - but chatted with him for a minute. He asked "aren't you that guy from Low Twelve?" I said yes, and he then returned with something that made me laugh out loud "well then what the hell are you doing in a library?". I told him that I was researching for a new song and he thought it was odd for bands to do it that way, but I told him that when I write lyrics for a new song about subject matter I am not familiar with - I will read up on it. I then joked with him about being in the library as well, and he told me that his internet got shut off (typical metal freak stuff) and so he was checking his myspace from the library. So it was a funny exchange. If you're reading this John - it was nice to meet you and maybe I'll see you again sometime . . . at a show instead of the library!
I've actually read two books to research "Hand of the Dying" - the song coming up about coming back from the verge of death in a combat hospital. I really feel doing this makes the song more believable and not just half assing it and making the end result something uninspiring! I think people pick up on that. We've seen it with some of the other newer material like "Not Forgotten" (about veterans of all wars) and "Defiance to the End" (about the WTC jumpers on 911) and have noticed much more fan reaction during and after the shows. It's great to see people that actually give a fuck about that sort of thing. I find it hard to write about stuff that I don't really care about. I have written a few songs like this - and to be honest, they're the ones I don't like to play if I can help it.
Here's a recap on the new songs for the "Blackened Spiral Down" CD coming in 2008:
these songs are recorded and finished
Dying Room
Bind Torture Kill
Not Forgotten
Defiance to the End
Chopping Block
these songs are written but not recorded yet
Mountains of the Dead
Bodies in My Pocket
these songs are in the process of, or not written yet
Scourge
Hand of the Dying
Splatter Pattern
We'll keep you all up-to-date on what's going on here . . . we're very excited about the new songs. We've contacted engineer Nathan Kurtz who helped out with the first group of five in February last year - and will do the same for us on the final five. Wes is working on some new drum mixing ideas that will likely change the first group of five somewhat and we'll be working on that mixing this winter and into the spring before we record the last group. It's probably confusing to any of you not familiar with the recording process. If all we did was play music - we could have a CD written, recorded, and mixed down in probably 4 months. But the way we do it - mixed in with the day jobs . . . takes over a year from start to finish. Usually closer to two years!
