offending nearly 5,000 people each and every fuckin' week

Sunday December 31, 2000

Hey Twelve Heads . . . it's time to get your ass brutalized one more time this year as we bid farewell to the year 2000.  It's hard to believe this year has gone by, as so many brutal things happened to make the time fly by.  Also, in case you haven't noticed, this being report 87 means that there's only 13 more to the most brutal of Brutality Reports #100 will be here very soon!  Holy shit.  Wait until you see what's in store . . .

Last night we ripped Smiler Coogans a new asshole and you'll see the pics to prove it.  We'll tell you all about it, plus some stuff on Heavycore Poser Roast II that's in the works, our cd release party at Lizards Lounge in Bloomington, Heavycore updates, and much more.

What did the year 2000 bring to Low Twelve?  We saw many killer shows, the release of Flesh of the Weak, the explosion of Heavycore, and much recognition in the world metal media.  We look very forward to 2001 and will be mixing some things up, probably making some changes to the format of the Brutality Reports.  Just a little face lift to keep them moving forward and improving.  We'll be doing more shows outside of Illinois and we're currently lining up a trip to the west coast this summer, hopefully a trip to the east coast, as well as shows in Iowa, Indiana, and Missouri.  We also hope to take a trip to Kansas to throw down with our Core brothers Dead-O very soon too.  No firm talks yet on a tour, but you'll be the very first to hear of it.

I'm criticized by many who are hopelessly drawn to these brutal passages.  To you . . .  hope you enjoy reading of the Low Twelve and Heavycore conquests as we move one step closer to ripping your poser ass off the throne you think you sit on.  Fads come and go, but real - true metal never dies.  You fags that are trying to be Slipknot or whoever else you heard about on MTV - we'll laugh at you as the fad changes to something else and you scramble to trade in your orange jump suits and braids for something more "hip".  Hint . . . learning how to play your instruments and writing killer songs never goes out of style.

Enough of that . . . posers will never learn.  Read on my friends - and have a kick ass New Year's Eve!

HEAVYCORE RAGES ON
All I can say is what a fucking year for the Core.  This past year saw the first ever Poser Roast in Kewanee IL.  What a killer weekend.  Also Venom, Pro-Pain, and Dying Fetus joining our ranks brought more credibility to the organization.  We've seen our ranks swell to over 500 members.  The improvements to the Heavycore site, thanks to Tony Heinz, caused nearly 500 hits the first week.  Hell yeah.  If you haven't checked out the new site, you really need to!

What's in store for the Core in 2001?  Well, we're planning Poser Roast II which will be at the legendary Pigpen in Clinton Iowa over Memorial Day weekend.  Very few bands have locked in so far . . . but you can bet your sweet ass that Low Twelve will be there to stomp ass and say fuck you to posers worldwide.  A huge thanks to CJ from Civilized Anarchy who's been the brains behind Roast II with the help of Oscar from Raven Records.   We will be working on a meeting for members and supporters, just like at Roast I.  We'll keep you posted on the details of this major event in 2001.

What else?  Well - on the Core site, we'll be offering much more than ever before.  We're in the process of creating a killer data base of the bands so that updating the list will go much easier for me and Tony.  That means that bands will be added faster than ever before.  Right now, I'm getting to most bands within 48 hours of applying.  Not too damn bad.  We are also working on offering web hosting, dial up services, catalog and distro, expanded merchandise line, and much more to bring revenue into the Core to help spread the word.

Tony and I are also working on a new Heavycore compilation cd that will be pressed with color art right off the bat.  We'll be selectively judging bands on the quality of the material they send in . . . so get to work.  It will be free for bands to get on the comp as our way of saying thanks to our union brothers.  Core bands will hear much more about it in the first Core Report due out in a couple weeks.  This will not replace the already successful Heavy as Fuck DAM cds - as soon as I get my new hard drive installed - I'll be uploading the mp3's for Heavy as Fuck II.  Sorry for the delay.  Why don't you buy Heavy as Fuck I right now?  You'll have it delivered right to your house in a week or so.

The surge of applications has been outstanding . . . so if you know a band that should be part of this one of a kind organization . . . send their asses to www.heavycore.org or they can email join@heavycore.org for more info.  If they're heavy and true to their metal roots, we'll let 'em in.  If not, they'll be cast aside and run down by the Heavycore Express.

SMILER COOGANS SHOW
A big thanks to Aaron from Axe Murder Process for hooking us up with our first show at Smiler Coogans in Chicago.  We had a blast, despite the small crowd.  This weather we've been having just sucks ass for crowd turn-outs.  The owner and sound man were very into our show and want us back in March with a strong headliner to get us some exposure to their crowd.  We'll let you know how it goes.

Soulmine had to cancel the show . . . apparently James (drummer) was shitting and puking for a few days and he couldn't make the trip up.  Sorry to hear that James . . . any good pics to send us?  Ha.

Our trip to Chicago was rather uneventful - nothing really interesting to report.

Axe Murder Process was up first and they kicked total ass as usual.  It was good to see those guys again!  Here they are pictured right - spewing some brutal sounds.

We opened up our set with "Twelve" and then went straight into "Trench" to knock everyone on their ass.  We did 'em all and the big crowd favorites were "Kill Floor" and "Crawlspace".

Thanks to Karin for taking these killer pics:

Tim shredding and the Kid breaking more hardware by the minute

Me sweating like the pig that I am and Les scorching the frets like a surgeon

When it comes to a band friendly environment - Smiler Coogans is the shit.  From the owner, to Kevin the stage manager, to Mike the sound man - all of them are cool as hell.  We were very impressed that for once - the stage was custom made for Low Twelve.  There were TONS of outlets on various circuits so we had no trouble with power failures.  There was even more room to the right of Wes' drums - so me and Les weren't all crammed in.  What a pleasure!  The monitor mix was stellar and the on stage sound was insanely brutal . . . but what else would you expect from the only band who needs a licensed electrician nearby to handle our power needs.

Also, a big thanks to Scott Davidson at Rebel Radio for spreading the word and also the fans who drove from Rockford IL to see us.  Thanks guys - hope you dig the cd.

NOW WHAT?
That's a damn good question.  What more brutal conquests can be had in 2001?  We'll be getting much more worldwide exposure in metal zines in Canada, the UK, the Netherlands, and Brazil.  We'll be getting increased radio play as we saturate the metal radio stations.  Rebel Radio in Chicago will be spinning "Crawlspace" in their normal rotation.  We're also in the process of securing a distro deal in Canada and with Ballbuster Magazine to distribute our cd through their catalog.  There's a lot more ground to cover my friends, and we plan on taking it all.
