| Sunday December 17, 2000 Hey Twelve Heads, so good to be back in the saddle again here in the one and only Command Center. As you can see from the pic above, we've been through some shit since we last saw each other. But it's been killer. We've battled posergeists in the worst way as they did everything they could from allowing us to play with the hardcore legends Pro-Pain. But it didn't work . . . not even fuckin' close. We tore shit up and you'll read all about our most brutal exploits. But of course that's not all . . . The reviews are pouring in every day for the Flesh of the Weak cd, which is selling fantastic by the way. We are working on a connection for distribution in Canada, and if that works out well - Flesh could be hitting European soil very soon after. It's a global take-over and we're taking absolutely no prisoners. Prisoners would just slow the brutal express down. I've also got an update on where you can pick up your Siren Jukebox 2.0 mp3 player, as the sales reach the tens of millions worldwide. Or course each player comes pre-stocked with the mp3's for "Twelve" and "Trench". Fuck yeah! There's so much more to tell . . . Why put off the inevitable? We go through this each week. You come here to be savagely brutalized and I'm here to dish the shit out. Some of you come here to check up on me, and to find out what it's like to start your own damn trend instead of following one. That's fine. Why put yourself through it? It must suck hearing about all this good shit that comes from using your brain and being creative. You better hurry, TRL is coming on and you wouldn't want to miss a prime chance to learn a lick or two. Now let's get it the fuck on . . .

updated list of the major stores carrying the players worldwide:
Best Buy The brutal propaganda is spreading like a cancer. Sonic Foundry is already asking for more tunes. They can't get enough of it either. Get out there and buy one today. They're about $30 retail.

| CORE SITE UPDATES | |||||||||||||
| Some updates have been
going on in the Heavycore camp. Tony Heinz is the new webmaster and
has been updating the various pages. We've added a Chain of Command
to recognize the hard work that many of us do behind the scenes in
Heavycore. All the Core Commanders are listed with contact
information for the members to reach them easier.
I've been sifting through the many submittals and proudly welcome some new meat into Heavycore: Idea Killer (Wisconsin), Impaled (Oakland, CA), Damn Shames (Maryland), Neutral Red (Iowa), Skitzafit (Rockford IL), Shattered Soul (Pennsylvania), and Dust Born (Texas). Fuck yeah - welcome to the CORE. There's a complete members list on the site and it was just updated yesterday. I'm going to be doing an online update zine called The Core Report. It's going to be done monthly and will be available to the members and supporters. These reports will contain information on new bands joining, big events going on worldwide, upcoming Heavy as Fuck compilation info, technical information and legal stuff to help bands succeed. Of course if your band isn't in Heavycore, then you need to join today. If it's metal and not some trendy bullshit - whiny alternative bullshit - then you'll be in. If not - then we'll saw you down at the knees. Check out the site today . . .

| A LITTLE PRO-PAIN | |
| Our journey began on Monday December 11th as we made the harrowing trip north to Chicago in the heart of a fucking blizzard. The weather people were calling for 12-16 inches of snow! I called Riley's and they said the show was on no matter what, so we gladly jumped in the van and made the trip. | |
| As you can tell, it was pretty damn
hairy. It turned a 2 hour ride into nearly 4 hours of wind gusting,
black ice and sleet hell ride. Tim was freaking out a bit, due to an
accident he had in a bad snow storm. The rock-solid driving of Mr.
Les Aldridge was the steadying factor to help Tim not throw himself from
the van.
I'm glad to report we made it safely to Riley's, anxious to play with Pro-Pain and Dead O. |

| When we arrived at the bar, we learned that the opening band (from Chicago) couldn't make the trip across town due to the weather. What a bunch of pussies! We all got a good laugh from that one. The guys from Pro-Pain and Dead O showed up and were very friendly. They were very cool to us the entire two days. We set up our stuff to kick off the show since the opening band couldn't make it. When duty calls, the brutal listen. | |

We threw down a short set - opening up
with "By the Throat". We went over good with the metal
heads and tossed out a few free copies of Flesh.
Tom and Eric from Pro-Pain, and much of Dead O hung out to see us and were
into it. Hell yeah!
After we loaded up, we found out that due to the increasingly bad weather, Pro-Pain decided to not play. Gary (vocals, bass) was not feeling good either, and so it made total sense. A local Chicago band played after us. |
| We hung out for a few
minutes, selling the shit out of cds to the few that braved the
blizzard. With a shitty drive home, we said our goodbyes and got
back out on the road we had only left a few short hours before.
The trip home was slow going as the winds picked up and were drifting snow across the highway much of the way back. Thanks to many cups of cappuccino and many chorus' of "Here Comes Sodom Claus" we made it back safe. Early the next afternoon, me and Tim made the trip to Peoria in the Satellite Command Center (my 89 Ford Ranger) to distribute cds to stores along the way. A big fuck yeah to the East Peoria IL Co-Op Records - those fuckers are cool as hell. The final stop was the Co-Op in Peoria, as we met up with Pro-Pain for a cd signing. Co-Op had a table all laid out with Pro-Pain's Round 6 stuff and they signed away. Here's a couple pics:
|
|
| The in store appearance was
a lot of fun. Wes and Karin joined us and hung out for the
afternoon. Thanks to all who came out and supported the cause.
A huge thanks to Charity and the staff at Co-Op - you guys were the
shit. But our brutal work was not yet done - we still had a show at
the Gaslight to do . . . with Pro-Pain.
It's still hard to believe that Pro-Pain was cool enough to play such a small venue like the Gaslight. Last time they toured through here, I saw them at the House of Blues in Chicago. So, I really appreciated them doing the Gaslight show. We all had a blast. First up was One Shot One Kill from Peoria who got everyone pumped up . . . . talking about shoving shotguns up someone's ass - or something like that. Those guys are cool as hell. We slammed it into high gear again, this time opening up with "Begging to Die" - which was a staple in the line-up for quite some time. We busted into it and a packed to the brim Gaslight moshed like fucking maniacs. Security ran to our aid as the pit was falling into my monitors and came crashing into Les' rig - knocking his microphone to the floor. Holy shit.
We slammed from one tune to the next, the highlight was "Kill Floor" and straight into "Crawlspace" to end the show. Fucking brutal. The Gaslight didn't let us down - but showed up in full force ready to throw down! Hell yeah. Dead Orchestra (aka Dead O) from Kansas was up next. They were touring with Pro-Pain and were also cool fuckers. Miles and I had been emailing each other, prior to the show, as they joined ranks with Heavycore. All of the guys are the shit. They tore it up in a big way, as the Gaslight became a bit drunker and starving for some Pro-Pain.
|
|
| Pro-Pain drove the Gaslight
to it's knees in their NYC hardcore fashion. Holy shit - they were
slamming and played tight as hell. They ripped from one tune to the
next, playing killer cuts like "Stand Tall", "Life's
Hard", and new songs from Round 6 like "Fuck it". Of
course they threw down with classic Pro-Pain tunes like "Make War Not
Love", and their anthem "Foul Taste of Freedom". They
put on a hell of a show, showing that hard work and persistence does pay
off. These guys actually love the shit they play. Killer
energy was observed as I stood only 2 feet from Klinger. Check out
some pics:
I was fortunate enough to spend many hours during the day, and then later at the show speaking to Gary Meskil about the business of music. He told me that he was extremely impressed with our set and wants to help us out when he gets off the tour at Christmas. Hell yeah. Here's some more pics:
You want a surprise? Ha . . . you didn't think I'd forget to give you a bit more? Here's a killer up skirt shot I took, as I bent down to "tie my shoe" and the camera mysteriously went off. Damn thing . . .
A huge thanks to Mike Stoltz, Bubba, and everyone who made it out to the show on a weeknight. You guys are hardcore. We had a great time. All of the guys in Pro-Pain and Dead O are fucking cool. Of course both of them are Heavycore too - so I presented Gary Meskil with his very own Heavycore shirt. Now he's Proud to be Poser Free like the rest of us. The following night Pro-Pain and Dead O tore shit up at the Pigpen with our Core brothers 20 Lb Sledge and Provoke. I'm told the show was killer and Pro-Pain commented on how much fun they had with us at the Gaslight. Best of luck to both of these bands as they wrap up the tour in a few days. Last night we played a killer show again at the Gaslight with Morbid Butchery from Kewanee. There's so many damn pics on this report - I'm not going to add more. It was a good show and not a bad turn out for another blizzard. This midwestern weather can suck my asshole.
